My Poker Coach Directory:
Hiring the Right Poker Coach…..
Congratulations on seriously considering hiring a poker coach. Now that you have decided to hire a poker coach, the next logical question is WHO?? There are actually quite a few, very qualified poker coaches available for players of all skill levels but you are going to have to be honest with yourself and ask some tough questions to find the best poker coach for your skill level and playing style. Some of the most important questions to ask are:
* What is your current poker knowledge level?
* What is your skill level? Beginner, Intermediate, Pro?
* What poker skills do you want to improve?
* Do you have good self control? Or do you go on Tilt easily?
* How much do you win or lose playing poker?
* Do you have good Bankroll Management Skills?
* Do you play to High of limits for your bankroll?
Once you have answered some of the questions above, it is going to be much easier to find the best poker coach for your current needs. The Poker Coach Directory lists Poker Coaches for all skill levels from beginner up to very advanced professionals. Some of the Poker Coaches take a more conservative approach, which is more suited for beginners and intermediates while other poker coaches teach a much more aggressive style of play. The Poker Coach profiles listed below will help you choose the best Poker Coach for what you hope to learn and your playing style.
Ed Hill: Los Angeles Pro & Poker Coach
While Ed Hill isn’t a household name, he’s well respected within the professional poker community. Formerly a professional blackjack and poker player in the Las Vegas area, Ed now spends most of his time at the tables playing NL Hold’em at Hollywood Park in Los Angeles. Ed has been playing professionally since 1976 and offers his students decades of successful experience at both cash games and tournaments.
Ed charges $150/hr after a free 15 minute phone call to determine your needs. That might sound like a lot, but it’s better than the $400/hr you’ll pay the shrink after losing the house.
Barry Tanenbaum: Las Vegas Pro, Poker Book Author & Poker Coach
Barry is a professional poker player who lives and plays in Las Vegas. Barry also is a columnist in Card Player Magazine. Barry mostly plays mid-limit Texas Hold’em but is well versed and skilled in all forms of poker. Barry has a new book out called “Limit Hold’em: Winning Short-Handed Strategies”. It is a great read and should be in any serious poker players library. Barry is also the author of “Advanced Limit Hold’em Strategy” and is a featured speaker at many poker camps and conferences.
Barry’s lessons aren’t cheap at $200 an hour, but if you’re serious about improving your poker game then I would highly recommend his lessons. Barry also offers a first hour guarantee. If you aren’t satisfied, you don’t pay.
